Ch Sydmar the Heartless Wench, APC’s All Time Top Producing Pointer Dam Ch. Sydmar The Heartless Wench, "Blair", is currently APC’s new All Time Top producing Pointer Dam with 31 finished champions. She was born in April 1989 to breeder Paula Nykiel of the Sydmar prefix. She is out of Paula’s English import, Ch Pipeaway the Ruthless Rake, and one of the prettiest bitches I have ever seen, Ch Sydmar Crystalline. The first time I saw Blair was at the 1990 Spring Louisville, KY shows. Paula was showing her along with a littermate. I thought, what a pretty bitch. I then had the privilege of watching Paula and Blair win Best Bred by Exhibitor at the 1990 APC Nationals. A few years later I was able to attain Blair from Paula to breed to my Ch Sydmar Coralwoods Grand Slam, “Mickey”. This breeding was the start of a very strong foundation line for the Coralwood Pointers. This combination proved itself in the conformation ring, field and as wonderful companion animals. I did this same breeding 2 more times. This combination of Mickey and Blair produced 22 AKC champions, with 1 also gaining his Canadian championship. To date, among these 22 at AKC All Breed Shows there are 4 BIS Winners, 6 Multiple Group Winners, and 5 other multiple Group Placers. There have been 8 Top 10 All Breed Pointers. Currently, the Mickey and Blair combination has produced 3 Futurity, 3 Sweepstakes, 2 Maturity, 6 Awards of Merit, and 2 separate Best of Breeds winners at the APC Nationals. The last of this combination are 3 years olds, which are currently Group Winners and Multiple Group Placers. Blair’s fourth and final litter was out of my English import, Ch Pipeaway Billy Bingo. To date, this breeding has produced 9. AKC champions, with 1 also gaining her Canadian championship. Hopefully a few more will also finish shortly. This litter is just 2 years of age, and are showing themselves as winners in the ring. This breeding produced this year’s APC National Best of Opposite Winner. Blair not wanting to be out done by her get, has competed at the past 2 Nationals as a Veteran. She won the Veteran Bitch class and the Brood Bitch Class at the 1998 Nationals. This year it was a thrill to show, actually she showed herself, to the Best Veteran in Sweepstakes spot and the winner of the Brood Bitch Class. It has been an honor owning and knowing this Grand Lady. Many thanks to Paula Nykiel for sharing this wonderful girl with me. All the owners of the 31 champions deserve a big thank you, for showing and finishing these dogs. All 31 were owner or breeder handled to their championships. Last but not least, a thank you to my mother, and dog mentor, Ruth Barton. She deserves much of the credit in Blair’s well-being and success. Blair now resides with my mom and lives the life of luxury that she so deserves. Ruth is known as “grandma” to all of Blair’s offspring. Blair has always been a “princess”, but now she has gained the title of Her Royal Highness Top Bitch! Long live the Queen
